Let’s start off with something that helps us to hang on to the summer-time flavor as long as possible. Anyone who has experienced a winter in Minneapolis will understand my reasoning. With the help my new Dell mini-computer and WiFi availability at the marina, I can honestly say this introduction was written from the back of my boat.
This image was taken by me while on the upper Mississippi River somewhere between Red Wing and Wabasha, Minnesota. My pre-conceived notion of the Mississippi River was it would be more developed, industrialized and crowded. As you can see, that notion was wrong.
The shoreline is mostly wild-life and quite pristine. Being a major migratory flyway, it is also home to a wide variety of birds at various times throughout the season. Wabasha is known for its large population of bald eagles. At various times of the season, you will also find pelicans. Yep…those big-billed birds you see in Florida. Sorry I don’t have a picture of one of those to show you. But stay tuned and I will upload images through the season.
